Weather conditions
2022 was a particularly atypical year due to extreme weather conditions. ln addition to a very early frost in the spring, which affected the vineyard just as the vines were starting to bud, there was a long period of exceptional drought from May until the end of September. The result was low yields and a perfect state of health at harvest time throughout the vineyard.
Harvest
08 September - 06 October 2022
Tasting
Deep cherry-red in colour, with purple and violet highlights.
The nose is expressive and generous, dominated by ripe black fruits – black cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant – with a clear, precise aromatic profile.
On the palate, the wine is full and structured, with a well-defined yet perfectly integrated tannic frame. Fine, silky tannins support a generous mid-palate, both dense and harmonious. The overall impression remains fresh, bringing balance and length. This is an appealing wine, marked by vibrant fruit and a confident presence on the palate, both approachable and showing genuine depth.

Château Couhins-Lurton is the smallest of our family estates, but also the smallest of the Graves Crus Classés. Nestled on a unique clay-limestone terroir, it gives birth to Sauvignon Blancs of great minerality and to greedy, fruity Merlots. Thanks to their good acidity and low pH, these white and red wines stand out for their freshness and exceptional ageing potential, true signatures of great Bordeaux wines.
