AOC Pessac-Léognan
"Couchiroy" or "Couche Roi" in Gascon. According to legend, one stormy evening, King Henri IV, returning from the Battle of Coutras, stopped here for a rest. This red Pessac-Léognan is easy-to-enjoy, smooth and fruity. It nevertheless displays the elegance and finesse typical of wines from this region of Bordeaux Graves. Weather conditions
2023 was marked by a uniform start to vegetation: bud-break dates returned to normal, foliage developed rapidly and the bunches emerged beautifully. Heavy rainfall in the spring tarnished the start of the season somewhat, with mildew appearing in places. There was no hot summer in 2023, but relatively cool nights and warm but not excessively hot days in July and August created ideal ripening conditions for the grapes, which produced remarkable aromatic potential.

Tasting
A beautiful, deep, brilliant purple colour.
Very expressive, the nose first reveals aromas of ripe fruit, then is enriched by delicate vanilla and spice notes that add complexity and elegance.
On the palate, the attack is full and fresh, followed by a generous, perfectly balanced mid-palate. The tannins, present on the finish, add structure and length, while hinting at great potential for development.
This wine captivates with its balance, combining volume, freshness and elegance.

Château de Rochemorin is located on one of the highest gravelly hilltops in the Pessac-Léognan appellation.
