Weather conditions
The weather in 2024 was extreme, with heavy rainfall, lack of sunshine and cool temperatures, making the fight against vine diseases particularly difficult. After a somewhat difficult flowering period with some coulure, a more favourable period in August allowed the grapes to change colour evenly, followed by a rapid harvest in September to preserve the quality of the grapes. This vintage marks a return to normal harvest dates.
Harvest
19 September - 3 October 2024
Tasting
Deep garnet colour, lifted by violet highlights.
The nose, a little discreet on opening, then reveals delicate notes of red and black fruit (cherry, blackberry, plum). Accented by sweet spices, the bouquet gains depth and definition, with a hint of blond tobacco, a touch of cedar and a suggestion of grilled chicory. The overall impression is very successful.
The palate is juicy and direct, driven by clean fruit (black cherry, blackberry). The structure is well set, with a supportive tannic frame and a gentle grip: the tannins are ripe and the texture silky. With good density yet a medium-bodied profile, the wine shows a fine balance between backbone and generosity. The finish is fresh, with a menthol lift and a mineral touch that extends the aftertaste. Enjoyable from today, this 2024 charms with its precise fruit, freshness and harmonious structure, in an elegant, already very accomplished style.
